20 Most Terrifying Places on Earth

Holy Land USA, Connecticut

Located in Waterbury, Connecticut, Holy Land is an unsettling place. Dating back to the 1950s, this was once a thriving amusement park that, unusually, had a devout religious theme.

Nowadays the site is abandoned, having fallen into a state of disrepair, and with the crumbling artifacts all around, a strange atmosphere exists that keeps all but the most curious at bay.

Towering over all is 56-foot steel cross, but with the miniature Bethlehem weed-strewn and the Garden of Eden overgrown and graffiti-scarred, the appeal that attracted 50,000 visitors a year in the 1960s has long since faded.

No trespassing signs are everywhere, but there are still those who are drawn to see the forgotten Bible-themed dioramas. Not many, it’s true, and even fewer since 2010, when a teenage girl was found murdered here. There’s little holy about this land these days and if you are tempted to take a peak, you’ll need to be at your bravest.
